Out-of-Band Management

Out-of-Band Management is a hardware management method independent of the host operating system. Through dedicated chips like BMC (Baseboard Management Controller), administrators can still remotely access and control servers even when the server OS crashes or network is interrupted.

In-band management relies on the operating system and network connection, inaccessible when the system crashes. Out-of-band management uses an independent hardware channel (BMC/IPMI), allowing remote control, power management, and monitoring even when the main system is completely down.

DCOS supports BMC management for mainstream server brands including Dell (iDRAC), HP (iLO), Lenovo (XCC), Huawei (iBMC), Inspur (IPMI), etc., compatible with IPMI 2.0 and Redfish standards.
